Industrial application of high purity graphite

Jun04,24

High-purity graphite has extensive applications in industry, being used in nearly every sector. The type commonly used industrially is synthetic graphite, also known as specialty graphite. Based on its forming methods, it can be classified into the following types:

1.Isostatic Pressing Graphite: Also known to many as high-density, high-purity, and high-strength graphite, but not all high-density graphite is isostatic pressing graphite.

2.Molded Graphite

3.Extruded Graphite: Mostly used as electrode material.

Furthermore, based on the granularity of the graphite, it can be divided into:

  • Fine-grained Graphite
  • Medium-coarse Graphite: Generally with a granularity around 0.8mm
  • Electrode Graphite

Properties of Graphite:

1.Lubricity: The lubricating performance of graphite depends on the size of the graphite flakes; the larger the flakes, the smaller the friction coefficient, and the better the lubricating performance.

2.Chemical Stability: Graphite exhibits good chemical stability at room temperature, being resistant to acid, alkali, and organic solvent corrosion.

3.Plasticity: Graphite has good toughness and can be rolled into very thin sheets.

4.Thermal Shock Resistance: When used at room temperature, graphite can withstand drastic temperature changes without being damaged. Its volume changes very little with temperature fluctuations, preventing the formation of cracks.
